4.1 Photos, AI Assistance, and Report Matching
Photo suggestions are optional: you choose whether AI helps fill in item details. All uploaded item and report photos may still be reviewed by AI and authorized DigiFind or organization staff for matching, recovery, and safety, including photos uploaded without suggestions. Anything visible in a photo may be analyzed. Avoid including people, documents, screens, addresses, or other sensitive information that is not needed to identify the item.
Photos are optional. If you do not want photo review, continue without photos. The item details you submit may still be used for AI-assisted search and matching. Where available, background matching may help identify possible connections between lost and found reports, including reports without a QR code. Skipping photo suggestions does not opt your report out of these uses.
Photo suggestions use Google Cloud AI in the United States. We send processed photos and the item information needed for the requested assistance to that service. We remove hidden file metadata, but that does not remove information visible in the image. Our current AI Search index excludes photos, contacts, notes, private identifiers, raw addresses, and precise within-location details; authorized staff may access relevant report information separately for recovery.
AI suggestions and possible matches can be wrong. They do not prove ownership, approve a claim, or authorize release of an item. Access remains limited to authorized parties; uploading does not make your photos public. Our retention practices and your data rights are described below.
4.2 Optional Text Messages and Phone Verification
Where offered, DigiFind provides optional informational texts to supported United States and Canadian numbers. Account holders may independently choose recovery and account updates and organization activity. People reporting without an account may choose updates for that specific report, including possible matches and return updates. These choices start unchecked. This program does not send marketing or promotional texts.
Providing a phone number, requesting a verification code, accepting our Terms, or using DigiFind does not enroll you in recurring texts. We collect separate consent for the subscriptions you choose. Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or use of DigiFind. Verifying a notification phone confirms access to that number; it does not establish item ownership or authorize account or billing access.
If you request a verification code or opt in to notifications, Twilio and telecommunications carriers process the phone number, message content, and delivery information needed to send those messages. We also use verification, consent, and delivery records to operate the program, prevent abuse, handle opt-outs, and demonstrate your communication choices. These providers do not receive permission to send their own marketing messages.
Reply STOP to stop DigiFind notification texts at that number across the program, or use the available settings to turn off a particular subscription. Reply HELP for help or contact support@digifind.app. Resuming one subscription requires fresh consent for that subscription and does not automatically restore other subscriptions. See our SMS Program Terms for message frequency, rates, and cancellation details.
5. Privacy by Design (Key Principle)
DigiFind is built to protect user privacy:
- Owners’ personal contact information is not publicly shared
- Finders do not receive direct personal contact details by default
- Communication is handled through secure, controlled workflows
- Only authorized parties (e.g., business staff) can access relevant data when necessary
- Uploaded photos are normalized into metadata-free images; raw upload files are temporary processing inputs, not a long-term metadata archive
7. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to:
- Provide Services
- Complete transactions or returns
- Comply with legal obligations
- Resolve disputes
After normalized images are created, we delete the raw photo upload. If processing fails or an upload is abandoned, bounded retention and retry schedules remove the raw file. We may retain normalized images and limited technical records needed to operate, secure, and maintain the Services.
If you use optional text messages, we retain verification, consent, opt-out, and limited delivery records as needed to operate the program, honor your choices, prevent unwanted messages, and meet applicable obligations. Withdrawing consent stops future notification texts; it does not require deletion of the suppression information needed to honor that request. Messaging providers may retain records under their own applicable retention practices.
Inactive or outdated data may be deleted or anonymized.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Opt out of certain communications
To exercise your rights, contact us at: support@digifind.app
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including:
- Secure data storage
- Encryption where appropriate
- Access controls
- Monitoring for suspicious activity
However, no system is 100% secure.
10. Children's Privacy
DigiFind is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly.
11. International Users
If you access DigiFind from outside the United States, your information may be transferred and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
12. Third-Party Services
DigiFind may contain links or integrations with third-party services (e.g., payment processors, shipping providers).
We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
